Greater Fayette County Military Coalition

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Building Resilience Inclusion Diversity & Growth thru Education (BRIDGE), U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Wellness Collaborative co-launch the Greater Fayette County Military Coalition to Support Rural Communities

Texas A&M Agrilife Extension La Grange, Texas – October 8, 2025 – BRIDGE, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Wellness Collaborative (WCC), is proud to announce the launch of the new Greater Fayette County Military Coalition designed to expand education, community support, and health access for veterans and families living in rural and underserved areas. The coalition will officially launch in 2026.

The initiative aims to address the unique challenges rural residents face—including limited access to healthcare services, fewer educational resources, and barriers to community wellness—by leveraging the combined expertise of BRIDGE, the VA, and WCC. Together, the coalition will deliver outreach programs, wellness initiatives, and knowledge-empowerment opportunities that strengthen rural families and honor those who have served.

“As someone who grew up in the community, I know firsthand the resilience of our people–and the barriers they face,” said Rebecca Powe, Executive Director of BRIDGE. “By bringing together the VA and the WCC, we are ensuring that rural veterans and their families receive the education, health resources, and community support they deserve. This is about building stronger, healthier futures for those who have given so much.”

The veteran led Greater Fayette County Military Coalition will focus on:

  • Expanding access to healthcare and wellness programs tailored to veterans and rural residents.
  • Building community-based networks that connect families to each other and vital resources.
  • Providing educational and empowerment opportunities that improve quality of life in underserved areas.

The Greater Fayette County Military Coalition reflects BRIDGE’s mission of bridging the gap in education, community, and health access through knowledge empowerment– with a specific focus on meeting the needs of veterans and their families in rural counties.
